The split charge relay switch will on and allow currant to flow through to the leisure battery when the voltage rises above 13 2volts.

Typically split charge relay is controlled by the ignition wire so that when the engine is running ignition is on the split charge relay will close and connect both main battery and auxiliary battery. Fit a fuse to one of these cables rated.
